Your pension is powerful

Did you know your pension is likely invested in fossil fuels, tobacco, and arms?

Much of the £2.6 trillion in UK pensions is contributing to the deforestation of the Amazon, helping tobacco companies sell cigarettes, and funding new fossil fuel projects. Pension funds have invested trillions on our behalf without ever asking the crucial question – do these investments create a world we actually want to live in?

This contradiction means that ethical consumers may be investing in fast fashion, vegans in factory farming, climate activists in fossil fuels, and medics investing in tobacco. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

make your money matter

Having a sustainable pension is many times more effective at reducing your carbon footprint than giving up flying and becoming a vegan combined.

That’s why we’re calling on UK pension funds to commit to Net Zero emissions. Evidence shows that over two thirds of us want our money to matter, while the science is clear: emissions must be halved this decade to limit global warming to below 1.5°C.

Across the globe, businesses, financial institutions, and even governments are signing up to Net Zero targets – now it’s time our pensions industry did too. Take action today!
